I know I'm going to piss some people off but that ok it just my opinion. 3rd. Nirvana: I don't want to kick the dead but I don't think the band should have made a C.D. 2nd. Mettallica: Just don't like the band think Iron Madden much better band 1st. Kiss: What they said their name ment keep it simlpe stupid said it all about their music. Now as a stage show they were great but the music still was simple. You don't get the stage show on the radio. Those are my pick. Nirvana (Seattle Grunge) Metallica (True Metal) Kiss (Glam Rock) Although it could be strongly argued that Alice Cooper was doing it before them. BUT Kiss took it worldwide. Especially Paul's compositions (though Ace, back in "the day", did some numbers that no one would argue were WAY ahead of the times). Get that straight, now...KISS is an institution and a legendary band; I wish to God they got more airplay for stuff from DOUBLE PLATINUM, my favorite. What about "Firehouse Rock" or "She" on the Bear?! 2) Kurt Cobain was one of the finest songwriters to exist in that particular place-and-time, IF YOU COULD DIG NIRVANA AT ALL. I know I/we did, but hey--the Doors were never really appreciated until '74, or so, unless you were there. Some very clever melodies, and a chord structure that was straight from the White Album, but again--it only lasted, really, thirty-six months or so. Almost no place on a "classic Rock" station, arguably. 3) Metallica--they're talented, they sell a LOT of records, and I have never like anything they've done. As you can see, it's been a while since I've heard a single KISS record that I wanted to hear. Call me a poseur, if you must...but you know that song? That smokin' Ace Frehley song? It was on DOUBLE PLATINUM, and I haven't heard it since the Cold Gin show at the (now defunct) Third Base Sports Bar in '95. But I WOULD like to hear it again, sometime. Face it, nothing fun is really that hard to do. Nothing hard to do is really that much fun. YES...ELP...FLOYD...KANSAS...ZAPPA. ESPECIALLY Zappa. Music is best. Rock 'N' Roll is better.
